One of the most common questions I see asked in online mom groups is “How can I make money from home while still being at home with my kids??” … cue the instant comments spamming about MLMs 😱 There are actually a TON of income generating businesses for stay at home mom’s – those which do NOT involve a pyramid scheme. Today, I’m going to walk you through 20 different freelance work ideas for stay-at-home moms that you can do from home, even if your kids are there with you!
I’ve been working from home as a graphic designer since long before I had kids – I always took on freelance work as a side hustle while I still had full-time jobs. Once my son was born in 2020, I knew I was not going to be going back to my full-time office job and officially went full-time in my business once my maternity leave ended in September of 2021. I’ve never looked back since 🙌🏻 Truthfully, I love working from home for myself and even though it can be stressful, and there’s parts I don’t love… I wouldn’t change it for anything. The freedom and flexibility that you feel as a mamapreneur is out of this world.
Freedom to push your work to later in the day to take your kids to school, their doctors appointments, or just for a fun day at the museum.
Freedom to attend your kids Christmas concerts + field trips whenever you want 🚌 without needing to ask for permission.
Freedom to be in charge of your own income (without having to worry that yet another sick day 🤒 might result in losing your income).
Freedom to work from my bed, or a local coffee shop, or the passenger seat when you load up the family and take a spontaneous road trip 🚙
… and even the freedom to drop everything and listen to the new Taylor Swift album 🎧on repeat for the day.
So… WHAT can you do to create this freedom for yourself? It all starts with a totally online, easy to start business! With little more than a computer and 5+ hours of time per week (see this blog post for more), you can start a business from home as a 1:1 service provider.
Whether you’ve always been a stay-at-home mom and you’re feeling the need for some extra income in these days of rising costs everywhere or you’re planning to become one and you want to keep a creative outlet – this list of work-from-home opportunities for stay-at-home moms will have something for any mom. Not every item is suitable for every person (if you hate social media, you’ll want to skip #5…), but there is such a variety of options available – this list is just the beginning.
